The professional espresso module without a boiler
Heylo rethinks the espresso machine from the ground up: no boiler, no idle heat, no thermal lag. Water is heated on demand by induction, at the exact moment of extraction, giving every shot the same precise temperature and pressure. Designed and built by VEA Group in Bergamo, Italy — the same industrial family behind Carimali and Elektra, with over 100 years of combined coffee-machine engineering. Heylo was selected for the ADI Design Index 2023 as the first professional espresso machine to heat water by induction, and exhibited at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.


There is no boiler in this machine – and that is the whole point. An induction element heats water only at the point of extraction, dynamically, between 80 and 98°C. According to the manufacturer, energy draw between shots is close to nothing, and exactly zero outside operating hours, since there is no thermal mass to keep warm.

Every barista pulls a shot slightly differently – unless the machine itself remembers the recipe. Each Heylo group head stores up to 100 individual recipes and runs as an independent brewing unit, with temperature, flow and pressure settings stored per recipe. The barista selects a recipe on the display or via the dial, and it is applied consistently on every shot – regardless of who is behind the bar.

Heylo is not one machine with several groups – it is several fully independent brewing units that happen to sit side by side. Each module runs on a standard grounded socket, so no electrician or dedicated circuit is required for a single unit. Start with one group and add another the moment the business grows. If a module ever needs attention, a technician can swap it on-site within minutes and service it off-site – according to the manufacturer, every other module keeps working without interruption.

A traditional boiler runs hot all day, whether it is serving a queue or waiting for the first customer. Heylo only spends energy when a shot is actually being pulled. Based on a usage scenario of 200 coffees/day, the manufacturer reports up to 70% less energy use than a traditional 2-group boiler machine – around 5,038 kWh and 1,043 kg of CO₂ saved every year – plus no annual boiler inspection and no boiler descaling cycle to plan around.

At up to 2,800 W / 230 V, operating current is approximately 12.2 A — comfortably within the 16 A rating of a standard Greek/EU Schuko-type socket. A single module needs no special electrical installation; for multiple modules, Solino's service team checks total circuit load on site before installation.
