At the bottom of the filter there is a capsule with natural active ingredients that stabilise the water in the tank, reducing limescale formation at the base of the water tank. This process is driven entirely by the natural movement of the water inside the tank, which flows continuously and gently through the capsule, without requiring any additional energy or special mechanism. As before, the upper part of the CLARIS filter, through ion exchange and activated carbon and thanks to the upward flow, filters exactly the right amount of water you need each time to make a perfect cup of coffee. In addition, with the help of RFID technology, the machine automatically detects whether a water filter has been inserted and activates the appropriate function itself. It then continuously collects information about the filter's use and notifies the user as soon as the filter's capacity is exhausted. Automatic detection of the water filter For the automatic detection of the water filter by the machine, JURA uses RFID technology. Every machine featuring the Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.®) recognises when the water filter is inserted, automatically switches to filter mode and runs a rinsing cycle. When the filter's capacity is nearly exhausted, the machine notifies the user to change the filter. If for any reason the filter is not changed in time, the machine's filter-free mode is activated automatically, which means that after a certain period of use (depending on use and water hardness) the machine will ask the user to descale. Descaling can only be done after the water filter has been removed, so there is no longer any risk of user error.
